Google Announces AMD Product Adoption for New Virtual Machines

Googl used AMD’s third-generation EPYC processor for its “Tau” virtual machine. The aim is to improve the performance and cost performance of cloud services.

🟩 Is the performance actually good?
The virtual machine “Tau” will be available to the general public from the second half of this year, but it is said that it has confirmed the performance improvement with some customers such as Snapchat and Twitter.

🟩Will AMD overwhelm Intel and ARM
Currently, Intel dominates the market for server processors. Will Google’s adoption in virtual machines make AMD’s EPYC more powerful?
It won’t happen anytime soon.
Google will also make Tau virtual machines available for Intel and ARM in the same way so that processor vendors don’t fix them.
The processor chosen by Google as the new virtual machine was AMD. It would be nice if users would benefit from healthy competition from CPU manufacturers.
