🟦 Tata and Micron partner to create giant semiconductor factories in India

 India’s Tata Projects has partnered with Micron Technology to build a semiconductor back-end factory in Gujarat, India. This will be India’s first DRAM and NAND flash memory assembly and inspection plant. It has a massive 50,000-square-foot cleanroom, the size of eight soccer courts, and is expected to be operational in the second half of 2024.

 This project is positioned as the largest investment in Indian semiconductor missions. It will be built in Sanand, Gujarat. Tata’s CEO said that through his partnership with Micron Technology, he will demonstrate technological advancement and commitment to “Make in India” and contribute to building India’s technological capabilities on the international stage.

 Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision is to become self-reliant in the semiconductor sector. Based on this policy, it was decided to invest a total of 7600 billion rupees in the semiconductor industry over six years. This is expected to accelerate the movement to fill the lag behind China and Taiwan in the domestic production of semiconductors
