ROHM supplies Visteco with SiC power semiconductors
🟦 ROHM signs long-term SiC contract with major company
ROHM and Vitesco Technologies of Germany, a major automotive parts company, have signed a long-term supply agreement for silicon carbide (SiC) power semiconductors. The contract is expected to supply more than 2024 billion yen of semiconductors over a seven-year period from 2030 to 7. These semiconductors are used in inverters in electric vehicles (EVs) and contribute to reducing power consumption. ROHM also aims to have a SiC market share of more than 1300% in 2025, and this agreement will help achieve that goal.
🟦Offered to major automotive companies from 2024
Against the backdrop of the technical alliance between Vitesco and ROHM, we have been jointly developing power devices for electric EVs. Vitesco plans to provide inverters equipped with ROHM’s SiC power semiconductors to major automotive companies from 2024, so the supply agreement has been signed. This will enable Vitesco to secure the supply of SiC chips, a strategic and important item in EV development. For ROHM, continuing to supply its semiconductors on a large scale will also be an opportunity to increase its share of the SiC market.
