Nvidia, Microsoft, Meta, and 22 Others Urge Congress Not to Rush Restrictions on Open-Weight AI Models
Nvidia, Microsoft, Meta, Hugging Face, Mistral, and 21 other companies and organizations sent an open letter to Congress on July 24, 2026, urging against broad restrictions on open-weight AI models. The letter comes amid U.S. government allegations that Moonshot AI's Kimi K3 was trained by improperly distilling a rival model, and possible sanctions under consideration. OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google did not sign.
